Radars News Brief

⚑ OpenAI claims AI solved three major science problems

  • OpenAI announced on October 26 that its models produced major results in mathematics, computing, and physics, claiming breakthroughs in problems researchers have studied for decades
  • In mathematics, it says AI proved the local smoothing conjecture, resolving the Kakeya conjecture. In computing, it claims AI disproved the Exponential Time Hypothesis, while its physics research addresses quantum field theory
  • OpenAI published the math and computing proofs with Lean formalizations, but the physics materials remain unpublished. Independent experts are reviewing the findings

🌍 Google unveils AI worlds you can explore in real time

  • Google introduced Genie 4 on October 27, an AI model that generates realistic, interactive worlds with natural movement, physics, sound, and dialogue as users explore them
  • Users can navigate these worlds and change scenes with text prompts, adjusting weather, camera angles, or characters. The AI also generates matching sounds and conversations in real time
  • Google says Genie 4 could help filmmakers, game devs, and robotics researchers create simulations. It's currently limited to trusted testers, and longer simulations can lose visual consistency

Turn a Blog Post Into a Narrated Short Video

Stop letting your best blog posts sit unnoticed on your website. Turn any article into a short, narrated video for TikTok, Instagram Reels, or YouTube Shorts using Claude, ElevenLabs, and CapCut.

  1. Turn your article into a video script
Open Claude and paste a blog post you own or have permission to repurpose.
    Use this prompt:
"Turn this blog post into an engaging 60-second vertical video script. Start with a strong hook, extract the three most valuable points, and end with a clear takeaway. Keep the narration conversational, under 140 words, and easy to understand. Do not invent facts. Break the script into short scenes and suggest a suitable visual for each scene."
  2. Generate the AI narration
Open ElevenLabs and select Text to Speech.

Paste the narration script from Claude, choose a natural-sounding voice, and adjust the voice settings if needed.

Tap Generate, listen to the result, and download the audio as an MP3 file.
  3. Build your video in CapCut
Open CapCut and create a project with a 9:16 vertical format.

Import your ElevenLabs narration and add your own or licensed video clips and images that match Claude's scene suggestions.

Arrange the visuals along the timeline and synchronize them with the narration. Add simple transitions and background music if needed.
  4. Add captions and export
Go to Captions β†’ Auto Captions in CapCut, select the narration language, and generate synchronized subtitles.

Correct any transcription errors, choose a readable caption style, and preview the complete video.

Export in 1080 Γ— 1920 resolution, ready for Reels, Shorts, or TikTok.

πŸ”Ž AI RESEARCH: AI Tutors Actually Lowered College Students' Grades

What researchers studied:

University of Maryland researchers conducted a randomized trial involving 2,379 undergraduate students and 30 instructors to examine how an AI study assistant affects academic performance and student engagement.

What they found:

Students offered the AI tutor scored about 4 percentage points lower in final grades when compared with students in other sections of the same course. Their participation in existing online learning activities also dropped significantly.

Surprisingly, just 15% of students actually used the tutor, mostly asking for answers and explanations rather than practicing their skills. The grade decline was not statistically significant across the full study sample.

Why it matters:

AI tutors don't automatically improve learning. Without proper guidance, they may discourage students from engaging with course materials and developing their own understanding.
